Ok look. Let's just get this out in the open. We've known each other for a long time, and there's no reason we should have secrets from one another. I don't judge you and I don't expect you to judge me. When you accepted me in to your life, you took the good with the bad. Some of that "bad" is just part of my personality, and it won't be changed... not for you and not for anyone. What you see is what you get, you know? So I'm just gonna be honest here and put this out there for you... and you can do whatever you want with it. I won't fault you for reacting however you naturally do. I just need you to know this, ok? Ok then... Here goes...
I like ABBA. Always have.. and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Their music is really catchy, and I like it. A lot. I've been to the Off Broadway production of Mamma Mia. I find the members of the band attractive. All of them. When I heard that ABBA once turned down a BILLION dollars to reunite for one concert, my immediate reaction was that someone should offer them more.
What sucks about liking ABBA, though, is that now Napster is trying to tell me I should check out Donna Summer, The Carpenters, Captain and Tennille, and Barry Manilow. Also, something called 10cc, which I'm not familiar with. So yeah... Napster now things I'm a 50 year old wuss who hates music.
Speaking of hating music, I did something really insanely retarded last week. I was sitting around at home on Thursday, as I'd taken the day off. I was chattin' with some Seattle homies from my old scooter club and they talked me in to going up for the club's xmas party this Sunday. I booked the flight without even looking at my calendar. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Friday (the day I leave), Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are playing at Slim's. The next two nights, Rancid are playing at the Warfield. I have tickets to all of the above. I've been looking forward to seeing Rancid for like 8 years.
Well, the tickets are non-refundable, and changing them would cost somewhere on the order of $230 (a hundred for each flight, as they're on different airlines, and $30 administrative fee from Expedia), which is about what they cost to begin with... so I'm sticking with the trip. I'm bummed about missing the shows, but I'm excited to see my club mates. In the meantime, Tatsuhiko gets to see Me First for his first Slim's punk rock show, and the Rancid tickets are pretty easy to sell. I read that they're releasing a new album in the Spring, so hopefully they'll tour.
