QotD: What A Waste

What's something you bought, knowing it was a total waste of money?

Well, I only *suspected* it was a waste of money when I did it, but I turned out to be right. It was a stock option exercise from my old company.

I paid $.16/share for around 5500 shares. Visto had some great IP and some good contracts, so there was a glimmer of hope there, especially when compared to the million or so other stock options I've had in my life that turned out to be worthless.

A couple of months ago, I saw in the news that they took a round of funding of around $51 million. I thought this was awesome. I was totally wrong. A couple days later I got a package from them explaining that through reverse splits, series valuation changes, a little bit of voodoo, and one good ol' fashioned lube-free ass fucking, I now had around 710 shares, and they were valued at around $.13 each. Mother bitch fuck cock ass. I'm paraphrasing. It also encouraged me to take advantage of a generous offer they were making me to purchase some "series A" stock, for more money, which they would then light on fire whilst punching me in the balls.

Yes. You read it right. They blew 90% of my money up their ass and then tried to convince me to give them more.

Damn you, internet millions! Why must you elude me??
